Khartoum is the capital and second largest city of the Republic of Sudan. This card pictures the five star luxury Corinthia Hotel Khartoum, situated at the meeting point of the Blue and White Nile rivers and in the centre of the city's commercial district.

 

The building has an oval curved facade; like the Burj Al Arab, it was designed to resemble a ship's sail. It is known as "Gaddafi's Egg" because it is funded by Libya.

The British Overseas Territories are those parts of the former British Empire that have not acquired independence, or have voted to remain British territories. While each has its own internal leadership, they share the British Queen Elizabeth II as head of state.

The Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul, Afghanistan

The Intercontinental hotel is located in western Kabul, Afghanistan. It is one of Kabul's best-known hotels and is popular with Westerners. The hotel was assaulted by suicide bombers in June 2011, resulting in at least 21 deaths including the attackers and severe damage to the hotel. The attack was claimed by the Taliban.

 

A few days ago there was an attack on the Serena Hotel in Kabul. A hotel popular with Westerners and wealthy Afghans.

Montevideo is the capital city of Uruguay. It is also the largest city and the main port of Uruguay. The Hotel Casino Carrasco is a historic hotel and casino. Construction started in 1912 and it was completed in 1921.

The Republic of Burundi is a small landlocked country in east central Africa, bordering Rwanda, Tanzania, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Burundi has a tropical highland climate and is a hilly and mountainous country with a plateau in its eastern part and some plains along the shore of Lake Tanganyika.

Burundi was a kingdom until the late 19th century when it became a German colony. After Germany was defeated in World War I, the control was handed to Belgium and Burundi, together with Rwanda, became a part of the Belgian colonial empire and was known as Ruanda-Urundi. Upon gaining its independence in 1962, the country legally changed its name to Burundi.

Bujumbura is the capital and largest city and main port of Burundi.

(front) The Marlborough-Blenheim Hotel was a historic resort hotel property in Atlantic City, New Jersey, built in 1902-1906, demolished in 1979.

The history of the Dennis Hotel follows that of Atlantic City itself. It started out, like many A.C. hotels, as a group of wooden cottages on the beach, and very likely opened shortly after 1854, when the seaside resort was founded.

The Shelburne Hotel was a resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey located at Michigan Avenue and the Boardwalk. Built and opened in 1869.
