Murter Island | Croatia

Murter is an island in the Croatian part of the Adriatic Sea. The island is only 6 meters away from land and is connected to the mainland by a mobile bascule-bridge. 

Most of the island is covered with age - old olive trees and fig-trees, which are the main traditional crops grown by the natives. The island is surrounded on most parts by the Kornati islands.

Lighthouse Grebeni stands on a rugged rock populated only by yellow-legged gulls. The island is located a four-kilometre boat ride from Dubrovnik's Old Harbour. The stamp is part of a set of four stamps about Croatian lighthouses (2015).

Tkon village, Pašman island | Croatia


Postcard
Tkon is a typical fishing village and port, located on the island of Pašman, off the coast of the Adriatic Sea in Croatia.  Pašman is surrounded by the islands Ugljan, Iž, Dugi otok and Kornati. It is the 12th island in Croatian archipelago by land area.

The uninhabited islets surrounding Pašman island are frequented by bottlenose dolphins.

The Kornati islands are an archipelago of the Croatian coast, comprising over 100 islands. The largest island is Kornati.

The archipelago is a national park since 1980. Once covered with forests but today the islands have a desert-like appearance. Due to burning  down the foliage to make pasture for sheep.

Mulo Lighthouse Island | Croatia

Built in 1873, Mulo is one of the oldest Croatian lighthouses. It consists of an octagonal stone tower, attached to a 2-story stone keeper's house. The lighthouse is located in the Adriatic Sea on a tiny island.

Diocletian's Palace, Split | Croatia

The ruins of Diocletian's Palace, built between the late 3rd and the early 4th centuries AD, can be found throughout the Croatian city of Split.

This palace is today the heart of the inner-city where all the most important historical buildings can be found. There are many attractions within the palace, but the most viewed is the Saint Duje Cathedral (Saint Dujam).  Thx Mirna!

Visovac Monastery, Croatia

The Visovac Monastery is a Roman Catholic monastery, located on the island of Visovac, encircled by a lake within Croatia’s Krka National Park.

Visovac was first settled by Augustinian monks, who established a small monastery and church dedicated to the Apostle Paul in the 14th century. A new Franciscan monastery was built in the 18th century.

The Brijuni Islands are a group of fourteen small islands in the Croatian part of the northern Adriatic Sea. the islands are a holiday resort and a Croatian National Park.
