Caves of Aggtelek Karst | Hungary

The Caves of Aggtelek Karst (together with Slovak Karst) is a UNESCO World Heritage site consisting of 712 caves spread out over a total area of 55,800 along the border of Hungary and Slovakia.

The Baradla Domica cave system is part of the Aggtelek Karst. The cave is known for its  for its stalactites (the ones that hang from the ceiling).

The Puszta | Hungary

The cultural landscape of the Hortobágy Puszta consists of a vast area (nearly 75,000 ha) of plains and wetlands in eastern Hungary. Traditional forms of land use, such as the grazing of domestic animals, have been present in this pastoral society for more than two millennia.

Hortobágy National Park - the Puszta is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Greetings from Budapest, Hungary: Buda Castle

Budapest is the capital and the largest city of Hungary. The imposing Buda Castle overlooks the city from its elevated position atop Várhegy (Castle Hill), rising 48 meters above the Danube river. This was the residence of Hungarian kings. The fortification system and palace, built in the 13th century following the Mongol invasion, was destroyed and rebuilt many times.

(right) In 2013 Magyar Posta issued 5 stamps picturing indigenous animals. This stamp pictures the European Lynx.

Historical view on Hungarian city of Esztergom

Esztergom is a city in northern Hungary, 46 km north-west of the capital Budapest. It lies in Komárom-Esztergom county, on the right bank of the river Danube, which forms the border with Slovakia there. Esztergom was the capital of Hungary from the 10th till the mid-13th century when King Béla IV of Hungary moved the royal seat to Buda.
