Islamabad is the capital city of Pakistan since the 1960's. When Pakistan gained independence in 1947, the southern port city of Karachi was its first national capital. To break with its colonial past, a new capital was founded.

The Margalla Hills is a hill range part of the foothills Himalayas located within the Margalla Hills National Park, north of Islamabad.

Rohtas Fort is a garrison fort built in 1541 by the Afghan king Sher Shah Suri, a strategic site in the north of what is now Pakistan. The main fortifications consist of the massive walls, which extend for more than 4 km. The fort has 12 gates and 68 bastions.

The Lahore Fort is a citadel in the city of Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. Alamgiri Gate, in the west of the fortification wall, was build in 1673 by emperor Aurangzeb Alamgir who ruled from 1658 to 1707 AD.

The Lahore Fort is part of Unesco World Heritage site “Fort and Shalamar Gardens in Lahore”.

Swat is a valley in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. Kalam is a village along the upper reaches of the Swat River in the Swat Valley.

Swat was a princely state in the North West Frontier Province until it was dissolved in 1969. It's natural beauty of high mountains, green meadows and clear lakes has earned Swat a reputation as "the Switzerland of Pakistan.”

The Karakoram Highway from Pakistan

The Karakoram Highway known as K.K.H., has been cut through the highest and the mightiest mountains of the world, that is, the Himalayas and the Karakorams. This Highway connects Pakistan with the People's Republic of China via Khunjrab pass (16,200 feet above sea level).

This highway has been described as the eighth wonder of the world by hundreds of travellers and beyond any doubt, it is the marvel of modern engineering. The brave road builders of China and Pakistan took twenty years to complete this 774 km. long highway which has been stretched over the hills, gorges, valleys and rivers.

Makli Tombs from Thatta, Pakistan

Thatta is a historic town of 220,000 inhabitants in the Sindh province of Pakistan. Thatta's major monuments especially its necropolis at Makli are listed among the World Heritage Sites.

This is one of the most visually stunning archaelogical sites in Pakistan. Covering 15-1/2 sqaure kilometers, and said to contain over one million tombs, it is considered to be the world's largest necropolis. The tombs and mausoleums are seen as the most substantial remains of Sind's greatness between the 14th and 18th centuries, with many belonging to kings, queens, saints, governors, military commanders, philophers and poets.
