West Norwegian Fjords: Geirangerfjord | Norway
Situated in south-western Norway, Geirangerfjord is part of the west Norwegian fjord landscape. The fjord is among the world’s longest and deepest. The deep blue Geirangerfjord is surrounded by majestic, snow-covered mountain peaks, wild waterfalls and lush, green vegetation. The fjord is one of Norway's most visited tourist sites.
In 2005, Geirangerfjord was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, together with Nærøyfjord, located 120 km from one another.

Canal ring of Amsterdam | Netherlands
Amsterdam is the most watery city in the world. Its canals and harbours fill a quarter of the city’s surface. The city has more than hundred kilometres of canals, about 90 islands and 1,500 bridges. A great way to discover the “Venice of the North" is floating down the canals by boat.
In 2010 the canal ring area was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Cathedral de León | Nicaragua

León is the second largest city in Nicaragua, after capital Managua. The city is named after the Spanish city of León. Its most famous building is the Cathedral of León, the largest cathedral in Central America. The Cathedral of León is on the list of Unesco World Heritage sites.

Montserrat is a British Overseas Territory located in the Caribbean. Soufrière Hills Volcano began to erupt in 1995, for the first time since the 17th century.The lava flows and ash falls forced two-thirds of the island's population to flee. Today the island has about 4,500 inhabitants.

a? A rather strange name, but it actually makes sense when you know what’s behind that name. The buffalo jump was used for 5,500 years by the indigenous peoples of the plains to kill buffalo by driving them off the 11 metre high cliff.
For thousands of years the native people of the plains hunted the North American bison. The plains Indian lifestyle became dependent on hunting buffalo, and they adapted numerous hunting techniques to obtain their livelihood. Stamps

King Mswati III of Swaziland
The Kingdom of Swaziland is a landlocked country, located between South Africa and Mozambique. Makhosetive was crowned Mswati III - King of Swaziland on 25th April 1986 at the age of 18. He thus became the youngest ruling monarch in the world.
Mswati III of Swaziland was born on the 19th April 1968 as the second of 67 sons of the elderly King Sobhuza II, and the only child of Queen Ntombi Tfwala, one of the kings 70 wives. Mswati III currently has 27 children from his first 13 wives and wives-to-be.

St Louis Montfort catholic church in Balaka, Malawi
Malawi is a landlocked country in southeast Africa. It is bordered by Zambia, Tanzania and (for the most part) Mozambique. Once under British rule and known as Nyasaland, the country gained full independence in 1964 and renamed itself Malawi.
St Louis Montfort catholic church is located in Balaka, a district in the Southern Region of Malawi. It is named after Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort (1673 – 1716), a French Roman Catholic priest and Confessor. In 1705 he founded the community of the Missionaries of the Company of Mary, a missionary religious congregation within the Catholic Church. The congregation is made up of priests and brothers who serve both in the native lands and in other countries.

No Man's Land on the island of Tobago

Tobago is located in the far South of the Caribbean Sea. The smaller of the two main islands that make up the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
No Man’s Land is a stretch of sandy beach lapped by the most kaleidoscopic waters you will ever see. It is located just off the paradise shores of the Island of Tobago.
The area is accessible only by boat, making it popular destination for Island boat tours and snorkeling. There are no permanent settlements and it is void of commercialization. It truly is a no man’s land.

What makes a city a capital city? The city or town that functions as the seat of government and administrative centre of a country or region is the capital city.
Israel refers to Jerusalem as the country's capital, and seats its government (Knesset) in that city. But the international community does not recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital, and the city hosts no foreign embassies. Most countries, as well as the United Nations, recognize nearby Tel Aviv.
The Palestinian National Authority also claims Jerusalem as the capital for their future Palestinian state; but currently the de facto seat of the internationally-recognized Palestinian government is in Ramallah, while the seat of the Hamas-led government is in Gaza City.

Volcanic beach on the island of St. Kitts
The seashore formation known as Black Rocks is located on the north side of the island of St Kitts. A remnant of the once active volcano Mt. Liamuiga. This stratovolcano forms the western part of the island. These rocks being formed of the hot lava as it entered the cool Caribbean.

Wilson's Arch, Jerusalem, Israel
The Wilson’s Arch in Jerusalem is is the modern name for an ancient stone arch that was part of a series of arches that supported a bridge that connected the Temple Mount and the Upper City. It was named after the British explorer Charles William Wilson, who identified the arch in 1864.
Today Wilson’s Arch serves as a synagogue and contains many Torah Scrolls used for Bar-Mitzvah’s, weekday and Shabbat services. Wilson’s Arch is located near the Western Wall, also known as Wailing Wall, one of the holiest places for Jews.Stamps

Mt Kilimanjaro, Tanzania (zoom level 3)
In 2007 85 percent of the ice that covered the mountain in 1912 had been lost, and 26 percent of the ice there in 2000 is now gone.
The remaining ice fields atop of Mt Kilimanjaro could be gone within two decades and perhaps even sooner, based on the latest survey of the ice fields remaining on the mountain.

At 19,336 feet, snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania is Africa's highest peak. The vast ice fields of Kilimanjaro are melting at a faster pace than at any time over the past 100 years.

Kilimanjaro is one of the largest volcanoes in the World and it is the highest mountain in Africa. Even though the mountain is very close to the Equator, the peaks are so high that snow and ice can form on them.

The capital of Belgium
Brussels is the capital of Belgium and could be considered as the capital of the European Union. Brussels hosts the official seats of the European Commission, Council of the European Union, and European Council, as well as a seat of the European Parliament.
At a height of 90 meters the National Basilica of the Sacred Heart is one of the landmarks of the city of Brussels. Building started officially in 1905 but only in 1970 it was fully completed. The Basilica ranks fifth among the world’s largest churches.

How to transport things on your head in Tanzania
Carrying on the head is a common practice in many parts of the world, as an alternative to carrying a burden on the back, shoulders, and so on. People have carried burdens balanced on top of the head since ancient times, usually to do daily work. Tanzania is no exception, anything can be carried on the head, from a few coins to a bar of soap to a whole tree.
But why is it that we only see women carrying thingson their head?Stamps

The Mambo Msiige, Stone Town, Zanzibar
Zanzibar is a small tropical island about 20 miles off the coast of east Africa. As a semi-autonomous part of Tanzania, Zanzibar has its own government. The capital of Zanzibar is Zanzibar City. Its historic centre, known as Stone Town, is a World Heritage Site.The Mambo Msiige is a building located in Stone Town. It was built around 1850 by a wealthy Arab resident and the name means 'do not imitate'. Plans for Mambo Msiige to be turned into a multimillion dollar five star hotel almost led it to be dropped from the WHS list.
This postcard travelled over 4 months to reach its destination (my home). Well, Zanzibar is far away, but….. there is another reason. Our local mailman decided not to deliver all of the mail, but save some in his garage. He was caught recently and about 10 days ago I found appr. 60 postcards in my mailbox. My missing postcards since 2011!
