The capital of Maldives – Malé is located in the middle of the atoll chain, a small island with a population 75,000. Male is a city of high-rise buildings and paved roads.

Only 201 islands are inhabited by the local people, and 83 islands are developed exclusively as tourist resorts, while the rest are uninhabited.

Maayaafushi Island is one of the island developed into a tourist resort.
