A monument in memory of the late Dr. Kwame Nkrumah (1909 - 1972). He was a leading advocate of Pan-African unity. He aimed at rapid economic development of Ghana which until 1957 was then the Gold Coast Colony. Was active in the struggle for independence for Ghana from European colonial rule. Modern Ghana became thus the pace maker for other African countries seeking independence.
