Paramaribo, the capital of Suriname

Suriname is a country in the northern part of South America. It is bordered by French Guiana to the east, Guyana to the west and Brazil to the south. Paramaribo is the capital and largest city of Suriname. The historic inner city of Paramaribo has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2002.
 
One of the city’s most notable buildings is the 17th-century Fort Zeelandia, built to protect the Dutch West India Company from European rivals.
