Tangermünde is a historic town in Germany. Situated near the Elbe river, this 1000-year-old city is still almost entirely encompassed by a town wall. The town was a member of the Hanseatic league, an alliance of trading guilds that established and maintained a trade monopoly along the coast of Northern Europe.
