Historic Village of Shirakawa-gō | Japan

Postcard
The Shirakawa-go region in Japan is famous for the traditional gassho-zukuri farmhouses, some of which are more than 250 years old. The design is exceptionally strong to withstand the weight of the region's heavy snowfalls in winter.

The Historic Villages of Shirakawa-gō and Gokayama is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
