The Fagus Factory is a shoe last factory in Alfeld on the Leine, Germany. The factory was built in 1911 by architect and Bauhaus founder Walter Gropius.
Alfeld was a member of the Hanseatic League. In the mid-thirteenth century, North German seafaring merchants joined together to form the Hanseatic League as a way to pursue their shared economic interests.
