With 185 km2, Fehmarn is the second largest island in Germany. It is situated in the south-western part of the Baltic sea. The island has a population of 12,500.
Thanks to favorable air-streams, this island is the sunniest and driest island in Germany, and therefore a popular holiday destination. The island is linked to the continent via the Fehmarn Sound Bridge.
